In early 2019 I stumbled upon a series of teachings that impacted my life; they talked about how to LET GO (I recommend that if you can, watch them on this link). That was the word I had as my theme for that year (which ended two weeks ago, WHAT? Time flies). I understood that my life was too full of “things” and that if I wanted to receive what God had for me, I needed to let go and put Him first (Matthew 6:33)
Definitely the Lord helped me and I learned to let go of many things: control, comfort, independence, my plans, my friends, my work, my country, my past, my problems… a lot of things that I continue working on letting go. And when I say let go, I don’t mean forget. Instead I mean to not let these things tie me up, not have the first place in my heart or steal my peace.
Although at first I didn’t see the whole plan, I decided to let go of everything and trust what God had for me, even though that looks only like ONE step of the road. Sometimes we wonder where is that road going? What is at the end? Why do I have to go? So many details we are anxious to know before taking the first step to start walking in that plan that God has for us. But thank you God! You don’t show us the whole plan! You just show us what it takes for us to decide to take a step of faith.
–As I have mentioned before, if we knew every detail it would not be faith. If at the beginning of 2019 God had told me that by 2020 I was going to be traveling to the other side of the world, I think I would have been overwhelmed and would not be sitting at this airport in Indonesia (YES I AM ALREADY HERE!!!) writing this blog-
For this 2020 the word that God has put in my heart is GO SHINE.
In the Christmas service of a church we visited, they did an exercise that really left an impression on me. We were gathered to celebrate Jesus and the light and hope that His birth brought to the world. Suddenly the pastor asked that all the lights be turned off. I had my eyes open and could not see anything; everything was totally black. Then they lit a candle that changed the whole atmosphere. And that tiny light multiplied throughout the room: each of us had a candle and finally the many tiny lights added to the room being fully lit. What a beautiful image of the power of light over darkness! The darkness did nothing to turn on the light, nor could it do anything to turn it off or resist it. Light simply came to be in the dark and completely transform the space.
The pastor commented on how we live in a fallen world, full of darkness and spiritual death. But God loved us so much that He did not let us live in darkness but instead He gives us the option of having the light of life: Jesus! He is the light that the world needs (John 8:12) and His light is a gift that we must decide to accept.
When Jesus really came into my life (personally, not through my parents, or the church, or a religion or…) there was nothing I could do to turn that light off or resist it. He transformed my life completely, and now I am also the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). I can only share that light that lives in me. I’ve decided to not hide it anymore. In a world full of darkness, people more than ever are looking for a light source. And that source is Jesus.
In this 2020 I am called to be light in many places full of darkness (there is darkness everywhere, I repeat: we live in a world full of darkness and you can be light right where you are). But specifically I will be light in places where many people have no opportunity to know and have never heard of Jesus: the only source of light and eternal life. My focus this year will be to GO SHINE AND BE LIGHT FOR ALL. To be, just to be light. Sometimes we get overwhelmed thinking about what we have to do to be light. But the truth is that the light of Jesus is already in us; He has already done everything and we just have to let the light be.
And this is how this new decade started with this mission: sharing Jesus’ light in 11 countries for 11 months. After saying goodbye to our families, being on planes for 24+ hours and several days traveling, WE ARE IN INDONESIA! I can’t believe it! Thank you, Lord!! We just got here and I am excited to share with you what God is doing on this side of the world and how my team and I will join that. Please continue praying for us, may God always give us opportunities to shine and show His light.

-I still don’t know what communication will be like or how often you will hear from me, but I will keep you posted whenever I can through this blog. Right now I am still at the airport with wifi and with several hours before we get to our host and where we will be serving this month-

Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

A principios del 2019 me tropecé con una serie de prédicas que me impactó muchísimo que hablaban acerca de SOLTAR (te recomiendo que si puedes, las veas en este link). Esa fue la palabra que tuve como lema ese año (que terminó haces 2 semanas, ¿QUÉ? El tiempo vuela). Entendí que mi vida estaba demasiado full de “cosas” y que si quería tomar lo que Dios tenía para mí primero tenía que soltar y ponerlo a Él primero (Mateo 6:33)
Definitivamente el Señor me ayudó y aprendí a soltar muchas cosas: control, comodidad, independecia, mis planes, mis amigos, mi trabajo, mi país, mi pasado, mis problemas… muchas cosas que sigo trabajando en soltar. Y cuando digo soltar no me refiero a olvidar, si no a no dejar que estas cosas me aten, que no tengan el primer lugar en mi corazón ni me roben la paz.
Aunque al comienzo no veía el plan completo decidí soltar todo y confiar en lo que Dios tenía para mí, aún cuando eso se ve sólo como UN paso de todo un camino. A veces nos preguntamos ¿a dónde va ese camino, qué hay al final, porqué tengo que ir? Tantos detalles que nos angustiamos por saber antes de tomar el primer paso para empezar a caminar en ese plan que Dios tiene para nosotros. ¡Pero gracias Dios porque no nos muestras todo el plan! Sólo nos muestras lo necesario para que tengamos que decidir dar un paso de fé.
–Como he comentado antes, si supiéramos todo no sería fé. Si al comienzo del 2019 Dios me hubiese dicho que en el 2020 iba a estar viajando al otro lado del mundo, creo que me hubiese abrumado y no estaría sentada en este aeropuerto en Indonesia (¡¡¡SI YA ESTOY ACÁ!!!) escribiendo este blog-
Para este 2020 la palabra que Dios ha puesto en mi corazón es BRILLAR.
En el servicio navideño de una iglesia que visitamos, hicieron un ejercicio que me impactó muchísimo. Estábamos reunidos para conmemorar a Jesús y la luz y esperanza que su nacimiento trajo al mundo. De pronto el pastor mandó a apagar todas las luces. Aunque tuviera los ojos abiertos no veía nada, todo estaba totalmente negro. Luego prendieron una vela que cambió todo el ambiente. Y esa luz diminuta se multiplicó en todo el cuarto: cada uno de nosotros tenía una vela y finalmente las muchas luces mínimas sumaron a que el cuarto estuviera totalmente iluminado. ¡Qué bella imagen del poder de la luz sobre la oscuridad! La oscuridad no hizo nada para prender la luz, ni podía hacer nada para apagarla o resistirse a ella. La luz simplemente vino a estar en la oscuridad y a transformar por completo el espacio.
El pastor comentaba cómo vivimos en un mundo caído, lleno de oscuridad y de muerte espiritual. Pero Dios nos amó tanto que no nos dejó vivir en oscuridad si no que nos da la opción de tener la luz de la vida: Jesús es esta luz que el mundo necesita (Juan 8:12) y su luz es un regalo que debemos decidir aceptar.
Cuando Jesús realmente llegó a mi vida (de una forma personal, no a través de mis padres, o la iglesia, o una religión o…) no hubo nada que pudiera hacer para apagar o resistirme a esa luz. El transformó mi vida por completo y ahora yo también soy la luz del mundo (Mateo 5:14). No puedo hacer más que hacer brillar esa luz que vive en mí. He decidido no esconderla más. En un mundo lleno de oscuridad, la gente más que nunca está buscando una fuente de luz. Y esa fuente es Jesús.
En este 2020 estaré siendo luz en muchos lugares llenos de oscuridad (hay oscuridad en todas partes, repito: vivimos en un mundo lleno de oscuridad y tu puedes ser luz justo donde estás). Pero específicamente estaré siendo luz en lugares donde muchísima gente no tiene oportunidad de conocer y nunca ha escuchado de Jesús: la única fuente de luz y vida eterna. Mi enfoque este año será BRILLAR Y SER LUZ DELANTE DE TODOS. Ser, simplemente ser luz. A veces nos abrumamos pensando en qué tenemos que hacer para ser luz. Pero la verdad es que la luz de Jesús ya está en nosotros, El ya lo hizo todo y nosotros sólo tenemos que dejar la luz ser.
Y así es como esta nueva década comenzó con esta misión: compartir la luz de Jesús en 11 países por 11 meses. Después de despedirnos de nuestras familias, estar +24h en aviones y varios días viajando, ¡YA ESTAMOS EN INDONESIA! ¡NO LO PUEDO CREER! ¡¡Gracias Señor!! Acabamos de llegar y estoy emocionada por compartir con ustedes lo que Dios está haciendo de este lado del mundo y cómo mi equipo y yo nos sumaremos a eso. Por favor no dejen de orar por nosotras, que Dios nos regale siempre oportunidades para brillar y mostrar su luz.

-Aún no sé cómo será la comunicación o que tan seguido pueda reportarme, pero lo haré cuando pueda por esta vía. Ahorita estoy aún en el aeropuerto con wifi y con varias horas antes de llegar a donde estaremos sirviendo este mes-

Más bien, busquen primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas les serán añadidas. Por lo tanto, no se angustien por el mañana, el cual tendrá sus propios afanes. Cada día tiene ya sus problemas.” Mateo 6:31-34
“Una vez más Jesús se dirigió a la gente, y les dijo: “Yo soy la luz del mundo. El que me sigue no andará en tinieblas, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida.” Juan 8:12
“Ustedes son la luz del mundo. Una ciudad en lo alto de una colina no puede esconderse. Ni se enciende una lámpara para cubrirla con un cajón. Por el contrario, se pone en la repisa para que alumbre a todos los que están en la casa. Hagan brillar su luz delante de todos, para que ellos puedan ver las buenas obras de ustedes y alaben al Padre que está en el cielo.” Mateo 5:14-16
